Mares brought to the ranch for breeding will be subject to a $10.00 per mare stall fee. All grain and hay is included in this stall charge.  No extra cost for foals on mares. All mares brought to the ranch must be in good health and have a current coggins. All mares should have also been vaccinated with an approved streptococci (strangles) vaccination at least two weeks prior to delivery to the breeding facility.

Mare owner understands and agrees that stallion owner nor Blair Land & Cattle Company will be liable for any loss due to illness, injury, or death of any horse while in transit to, or from or while at the breeding facility. Furthermore, we reserve the right to call a veterinarian in case of any medical emergency for your horse, and mare / foal owner agrees to pay for those charges should they become necessary.

TRANSPORTED SEMEN

This breeding contract allows mare owner (2) SHIPMENTS of cooled semen for each mare booked. Should additional shipments be necessary, there will be a $150.00 fee per each additional shipment needed to cover collection, lab, container, and shipping costs. Mare owner is responsible for all facets of breeding when shipped semen is used.  Careful management is crucial for optimal results.  Planning and communication is vital for all parties concerned.  Please call or email to keep us updated on your breeding plans.  We are here to help you any way we can.

If possible mares should be on a regular teasing program. Mares foaling should be observed for any abnormal foaling signs. Older mares should receive a uterine inspection prior to insemination, by a veterinarian that is familiar with equine reproduction. Mares brought to the ranch for breeding will receive this exam at no extra cost.  Ultrasounds are used on the ranch to determine the optimum time to breed.  Ultrasounds performed here will be $15.00 per ultrasound.  But, no matter how many are needed, the total cost of these will not exceed $100.00 per mare. Any medicines used to enhance conception will be billed at our cost.  Mare owner agrees that ONLY a veterinarian that is skilled and familiar in equine services will do the artificial insemination.

TIMING IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE

We can ship only on our scheduled collection days. This is normally Monday / Wednesday / Thursday.  Friday shipment can be made for Saturday delivery or pick up.  Most overnight carriers charge an extra fee for this, usually $10.00 to $20.00. We have no control of semen once it leaves our ranch. Therefore we can not guarantee that semen will reach the desired destination at the prescribed time.  We can provide tracking numbers for you to track the shipment. 

RETURN BREEDING RIGHTS

There is a live foal guarantee with all breedings. Live foal is a foal that stands and nurses.  This guarantee is contingent on the following conditions: 1.)  The mare has been kept in good health and condition throughout pregnancy. 2.)  The mare has received all necessary vaccinations, including the 5-7-9 month "rhino shots". 3.) It was an "attended" foaling.  4.)  The foal was in a suitable location free of excessive weather conditions. Mare owner shall not sell / consign this contract without the consent of the stallion manager. Substitutions of mares can be done only with prior consent of the breeding manager. The venue of this contract lies in Jefferson County, Indiana.
